AMD Bowie Dick Test Pack is designed to detect insufficient air removal and steam penetration in vacuum-assisted autoclave sterilizers.
Quality Standards: ISO 11140-1, EN 867
The pack contains B-D test paper, laminations, and a foam sheet, all wrapped and packed in crepe paper with an indicator label on the exterior.
Under standard conditions (when the sterilizer operates at 132°C or 134°C for 3.5 minutes), steam will pass through the laminations with optimal air permeability during the sterilization cycle. This allows the vapor to interact with the indicator, causing the color on the B-D test paper to change from blue to black.
If cold air is not completely removed from the package, it will hinder steam penetration. This results in a color difference on the B-D test paper, with the center appearing lighter than the surrounding areas. This phenomenon indicates the sterilizer's effectiveness in eliminating cold air.
